What is Problem Gambling?

Problem gambling is characterized as an uncontrolled impulse to continuously gamble, even if it leads to harmful consequences or a desire to quit. The classification of problem gambling is based on the extent of harm experienced by the individual or others rather than solely on the behavior of the gambler. When certain criteria are met, severe problem gambling can be diagnosed as clinical pathological gambling. Pathological gambling is a prevalent disorder that results in social and family costs.
